The company's transformer manufacturing started in 1954. It is a holding subsidiary of Beihai Galaxy Bio Industry Investment Co., Ltd., a domestic listed company (Shenzhen: 000806), and a national high-tech enterprise.

The company and Siemens (China) Co., Ltd. have reached an early agreement on the power equipment industry to promote the cooperation between the two sides in the field of high-end and intelligent power equipment based on the rail transit high, medium and low voltage intelligent complete equipment. In 2017, the company has started the construction of the "high-end intelligent transmission and distribution equipment" project in Nanchang Economic Development Zone, and has wholly registered Jiangxi Galaxy Electric Technology Co., Ltd. to operate this project.
Based on the existing hardware and technical reserve conditions of the company, combined with the current market demand and the exploration practice in recent years, the company has formulated the development goals in the field of power transmission and distribution: pay attention to the domestic and international markets, and strive to build a power transmission and distribution equipment manufacturer and service provider with the manufacturing capacity of a full range of transformers with voltage levels of 500kV and below, as well as the qualification and service capacity of undertaking installation (repair and test) and general contracting of electric power engineering.
